In our writing it can be difficult, at times, to know what words should be capitalized. We are experts with common nouns already, but proper nouns are something new! We have been working on how to tell the difference between common and proper, and it can be tricky! Charts are always helpful, so we started by making one together....
We started to realize that only names of persons, places, and things earn a capital letter!
The next thing we did to get more practice was going on a common and proper noun scavenger hunt! Nouns were hidden all over the room and we had to find them and decide if they were proper or common. We had to think hard, since none of them had capitals! It was great practice and a lot of fun!
