Around the Room

We are seeing a few new things around the room!  We started having classroom jobs this week.  Many get to have a responsibility for the week, while others are able to sit back and relax this week.  We also have a fun wall that helps us put a face to a birthday.

First Day of Second Grade = Success!

We had an outstanding first day of school!  Our room was full of eager and smiling boys and girls!  The morning started off with a "people hunt", where we had to find others that had the same favorites as us!  Take a look at our surprise visitors who joined in on the activity...

Mrs. DeGaetano came and took part!

Dr. Schuler had some of the same favorites as us!

JA & KS had fun asking each other questions!

Having fun meeting new friends!

A few things for homework...

School has not even started and, yes, I am assigning homework!  Please try your best to have the following items by the end of the week:
1.  family photo (It will be staying in our room for the whole year, so pick one you can part with!)
2.  empty paper towel roll
3.  favorite book

Welcome parents & students!

Hi and welcome to second grade!  I am very excited to meet all of you and begin our year!  Our classroom looks great and is ready for new boys and girls.  We are going to have a fabulous time in second grade and have many exciting things coming our way!  Blogging is something I am going to try this year.  I have learned a lot about it in recent months and am going to do my best to update weekly.  Please be sure to still check Konnect, for it will be another place to find important information. I hope to see you all on Monday at Curriculum Night/Supply Drop Off!

A little about me!

I have been teaching for two years and cannot wait to start my third year of second grade!  I am from Winnebago (small town near Rockford) but remain living in Aurora after graduating from Aurora University.  While I do live here, I love to go back home frequently to see my family and dogs.  I have a large extended family but have just one younger brother, who attends a tech college in Phoenix.  I am VERY excited to say I am engaged and in the fun-filled process of wedding planning!  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, boating, baking, reading, "Pinteresting", and just being outside.  I love working with kids each day and how they continue to teach me something new.
